About this role
We are a global team of innovators and pioneers dedicated to shaping the future of observability. At New Relic, we build an intelligent platform that empowers companies to thrive in an AI-first world by giving them unparalleled insight into their complex systems. As we continue to expand our global footprint, we're looking for passionate people to join our mission. If you're ready to help the world's best companies optimize their digital applications, we invite you to explore a career with us!
Principal Product Manager, Browser Monitoring
Your Opportunity
New Relic is looking for a visionary Principal Product Manager to lead our Browser Monitoring solution within the Digital Experience Monitoring (DEM) team. As the modern web shifts toward increasingly complex, client-side architectures, the browser is where customers' brand reputation is won or lost. In this role, you will lead our Browser Monitoring product efforts, defining the future of how developers, SREs, and product team visualize, triage, and optimize the front-end experience. You aren’t just managing a backlog, you are defining market innovative approaches to solving real problems, which will ensure our customers deliver flawless digital experiences.
What You'll Do
- Strategy & Vision: Partner with product leadership to develop and execute a roadmap that anticipates market shifts in front-end application observability and cements New Relic as the leader in DEM.
- Product Execution: Partner deeply with Engineering and Design to ship high-impact features. You will balance technical debt with "big bet" innovations, ensuring you deliver a high quality observability product with a world-class UX.
- GTM & Advocacy: Act as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Browser Observability. You will enable our GTM teams, speak at marketing and industry events, and help author GTM and thought-leadership content.
- Customer Discovery: Maintain a continuous feedback loop with our largest enterprise customers and our greenfield account teams to understand customer pain points in how their applications support their businesses.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Navigate and negotiate across multiple organizations, aligning your roadmap with the broader New Relic platform strategy and ensuring seamless integration with APM (Application Performance Monitoring) and other observability solutions.
- Market Analysis: Keep a pulse on the competitive landscape and the OpenTelemetry (OTel) ecosystem to ensure our browser instrumentation remains the gold standard for compatibility and data richness.
This role requires
- Deep Domain Expertise: 12+ years of Product Management experience, with at least 4 years focused on Observability, APM, or Digital Experience Monitoring.
- Front-End Fluency: A strong technical background in modern front-end development. You should be intimately familiar with JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, Vue), browser rendering lifecycles, and the intricacies of the DOM.
- Strategic Communication: Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into value-based narratives for C-suite executives, while still being able to "talk shop" with senior software engineers.
- Data-Driven Mindset: Experience leveraging analytical data to inform and support roadmap development as well as understand product adoption challenges that require course correction.
- Influential Leadership: Experience leading without formal authority in a fast-paced, distributed environment. You know how to build consensus and when to make the hard call.
Bonus Points If You Have
- Past Engineering Experience: You’ve previously held a role as a Front-End or Full-Stack Engineer and have felt the pain of debugging a production issue without proper telemetry.
- Open Source Contributions: Experience contributing to or managing projects within the OpenTelemetry (OTel) community, specifically regarding web instrumentation.
- SEO & Web Vitals Expertise: A deep understanding of how Google’s Core Web Vitals impact business outcomes and SEO rankings.
- MBA or Advanced Degree: A Master’s degree in business or a technical field.
