  Chess Team
The Chess team builds engaging, educational features through Duolingo’s signature approach to learning. On this team, you will shape core product experiences by improving gameplay and creating engaging, high-quality course content. As an engineer building Duolingo's newest product, you can expect to move quickly, prototype boldly, and experiment often!


Video Call Experience Team:
The Video Call Experience team is responsible for both the technical foundation and product roadmap for Duolingo's Video Call product — a core feature that allows users to bridge the speaking & listening gap in their language learning journey. You'll architect robust infrastructure while creating engaging user experiences, working closely with design and product partners. We're looking for engineers who champion solid system design and find excitement in working with cross-functional partners to make language learning more fun and accessible.   Core App Experience Team:
The Core App Experience team is in charge of improving the user experience in core flows of the iOS and Android apps to drive user growth. Sitting in between the intersection of technical and product work, you will drive technical improvements in app open, session start and end, and improving the offline experience. We're looking for engineers who are willing to deep dive into the codebase and provide their suggestions on how to improve the everyday experience of our users.

• Collaborate on software projects with product design and backend aspects
• Develop, release, and maintain native Android application features in Kotlin
• Mentor and set technical direction for junior engineers on the team
  
  

✅  You have...

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
• Programming experience in Kotlin on Android
• The ability to communicate technical issues effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders

 

⭐  Exceptional candidates will have...

• Strong programming experience building reactive Android apps
• Demonstrated self-direction, with a desire both to learn new techniques and mentor others
• Experience designing clean and maintainable APIs
• Experience writing unit tests and testable code

 

We post a multi-level salary range for all of our roles.

This is not inclusive of the rest of our awesome portfolio that includes equity compensation and world-class benefits. Our salary ranges are the same for all US locations. Your recruiter can share more details about the range for a specific level during the hiring process. The actual salary within the range is determined by many factors including but not limited to, skills, experience, education, and internal equity.

Salary Range: $177,700—$240,400 USD
