About this role
Our mission is to automate coding. The first step in our journey is to build the best tool for professional programmers, using a combination of inventive research, design, and engineering. Our organization is very flat, and our team is small and talent dense. We particularly like people who are truth-seeking, passionate, and creative. We enjoy spirited debate, crazy ideas, and shipping code.
About the role
We’re looking for a Group Vice President (GVP) of Aerospace to build and lead Cursor’s aerospace and defense business. This leader will define our strategy across agencies, contractors, and commercial aerospace organizations, bringing AI-powered developer tools into some of the most complex, mission-critical environments.
You’ll own the end-to-end go-to-market motion—from early lighthouse customers to building a scaled, repeatable business. This includes navigating highly regulated environments, working with primes and integrators, and partnering closely with product and engineering to meet stringent security, compliance, and deployment requirements.
This is a highly strategic and hands-on role for someone who understands the aerospace ecosystem and knows how to turn early traction into long-term, durable growth.
We’re an in-person company with offices in San Francisco and New York, and we value tight collaboration across teams.
What you’ll do
- Own and drive Cursor’s aerospace go-to-market strategy across defense, space, and commercial aviation sectors
- Build, hire, and lead a high-performing aerospace sales organization over time
- Develop and close strategic deals with agencies, primes, and commercial aerospace companies
- Navigate complex procurement processes and long sales cycles across both government and contractor ecosystems
- Establish and grow relationships with key stakeholders, including defense contractors, system integrators, and partners
- Partner with product and engineering to align roadmap priorities with aerospace requirements (e.g., security, air-gapped deployments, compliance)
- Identify and execute strategic partnerships that accelerate distribution and adoption
- Represent Cursor externally with senior stakeholders and at key industry events
You may be a fit if
- You’ve built and scaled aerospace, defense, or related vertical sales teams at a high-growth technology company
- Deep experience working with defense contractors, aerospace companies, or relevant government agencies
- Proven track record of closing large, complex deals in regulated, high-stakes environments
- Strong understanding of procurement, compliance, and security requirements in aerospace/defense
- Established network across primes, integrators, and/or key industry stakeholders
- Comfortable operating in early-stage environments with high ownership and ambiguity
- Strong leadership and hiring track record
- Interest in AI, developer tools, or highly technical products is a strong plus
