1.What counts as a cookie
This page covers both HTTP cookies set by the site (small text files stored by your browser) and comparable technologies — in particular localStorage, which behaves similarly from a privacy perspective and is required to be disclosed under the EU ePrivacy Directive in the same way.
We distinguish two groups:
- Essential UX — strictly necessary for the site to work the way you asked it to (e.g. remembering which jobs you saved). Do not require consent under the ePrivacy Directive, Article 5(3).
- Editorial testing — helps us compare different versions of our own editorial pages. Not strictly necessary. Can be opted out of — see §4.
2.What RemNavi sets on your browser
The table below lists every cookie and localStorage key used on this site today:
| Name | Type | Duration | Category | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| rn_rrs_bucket | First-party cookie | 30 days | Editorial testing | Keeps you on the same variant of our Real Remote Score ranking across visits while we test editorial presentations. |
| rn_consent_v1 | First-party cookie | 365 days | Essential UX | Remembers whether you accepted or declined the non-essential cookie above so we do not keep asking you. Required by law to be exempt from consent itself. |
| rn_popup_dismissed_at | localStorage | 7 days (timestamp) | Essential UX | Remembers when you dismissed the weekly-digest sign-up prompt so we don’t re-show it immediately. |
| rn_recent_searches | localStorage | Until cleared | Essential UX | Stores your five most recent job searches on this device so you can quickly repeat them. |
| rn_saved_jobs | localStorage | Until cleared | Essential UX | Holds the list of listings you have saved on this device. Never leaves your browser. |
| rn_hidden_jobs | localStorage | Until cleared | Essential UX | Holds the list of listings you have hidden on this device. Never leaves your browser. |
| rn_applied_jobs | localStorage | Until cleared | Essential UX | Holds the list of listings you have marked as applied on this device. Never leaves your browser. |
Where a row is marked "Essential UX" the value is stored entirely in your browser's local storage and is never transmitted back to RemNavi servers. If you clear your browser storage for this site, your saved/hidden/applied lists and recent searches reset.
3.What RemNavi does not set
We do not use any of the following on this site:
- Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager.
- Meta / Facebook pixel, LinkedIn Insight tag, TikTok pixel.
- Advertising retargeting cookies.
- Third-party session-replay tools (Hotjar, FullStory, Clarity).
- Cross-site tracking identifiers.
- Fingerprinting scripts.
If that ever changes we will update this page and, where required by the ePrivacy Directive, request consent before the additional technology loads. Until then the list above is the complete picture.
4.How to opt out
Editorial testing cookie (rn_rrs_bucket). When you first visit the site we show a consent banner asking whether to set this cookie. Declining leaves your device in a no-cookie state for this purpose — we still serve the default variant of the Real Remote Score ranking, we just can't remember which variant you had last time. You can change your mind by clearing the rn_consent_v1 cookie through your browser settings, which will cause the banner to reappear on your next visit.
Essential UX storage. These keys make the Save / Hide / Applied / Recent Searches features work. Disabling them would break those features. You can always clear them via your browser's "Clear site data" option for this domain.
Browser-wide controls. Every major browser lets you block third-party cookies, clear cookies on exit, or refuse all cookies outright. Guidance links:
5.Embedded third-party services
RemNavi uses Hostinger for hosting, GitHub for deployment, and Stripe for payment processing on the /advertise page. The advertise page currently renders pre-filled mailto links — it does not embed the Stripe checkout inline. Once we move to embedded Stripe Payment Links or Stripe Checkout, Stripe may set its own cookies (for fraud prevention and session state) when you are on a Stripe-hosted checkout page. Those cookies are governed by Stripe's cookie policy, not this one.
We do not embed YouTube, Vimeo, Twitter/X, Facebook, or LinkedIn widgets on any page. Outbound links to those services are plain hyperlinks that only load the remote site if you click.
6.Server-side access logs
Our web server and CDN log basic request metadata (IP address, user-agent, URL, timestamp) independently of cookies. These logs are used for security, rate limiting, and aggregate traffic statistics — see §2(d) of our Privacy Policy for the legal basis and retention periods. Server logs are not cookies and cannot be opted out of via browser cookie controls.
7.Changes to this policy
If the cookie or storage footprint changes, we will update the table in §2 and bump the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Where a new non-essential technology requires consent under the ePrivacy Directive, we will add a consent banner before it loads.
