The Scored Weekly, 12 October: five strong remote roles, three big salaries, one 'remote' job with three office days

Five remote roles that state their pay and their country list, three of the highest stated salaries this week, one 'remote' listing with three days in the office, and the figure that only 5.9% of EU remote listings say what they pay.

Last week the index tracked about 25,000 live listings from 13 boards and employer career pages; roughly one in four stated a salary range, and in the EU fewer than one in sixteen did. Below: the roles worth a look, chosen for stated pay, an open country list and freshness, exactly as the employers published them.

Remote, but not really

Data Scientist, FinEng – OpenAI carries "(Remote)" in its location line and states, in the posting, a hybrid model of three days per week in the San Francisco office. That is what the employer published, and the posting is clear about it; it is shown here as the kind of line to read before applying. Its Hybrid Transparency Score is 70 of 100 because it states the days.

One data observation

Remote listings are where pay transparency is thinnest. In the week to 6 October, 5.9% of live remote listings for EU locations stated a salary range (106 of 1,794); UK 9.4%; US 37.5%. Indeed reports around 60% for all UK job ads. The write-up with the country chart: Remote listings are the blind spot of pay transparency.

One transparency statistic

Of the 2,087 listings in the browsable index that are classified hybrid, 68 state how many days a week are in the office: 3.3%. (Organic listings posted in the last 180 days, read on 9 October; method at /how-we-score/.)
