How the verticals are assigned
Every listing in the corpus is run through a curated classifier (utils/industries.js) that matches the company name and the role title against substring patterns specific to each vertical. First-match wins; unmatched listings fall through to no vertical and still appear in the global jobs index.
The 15 verticals are deliberately broad — Fintech and DevTools both contain dozens of sub-categories — but the page is meant for navigation, not taxonomy debate. If you want narrower cuts (e.g. "remote payments fintech" vs "remote lending fintech"), use the /jobs/ search with combined filters or subscribe to a custom RSS feed via /api/#feed.
