Hybrid means how many days? 66 of 1,969 hybrid listings say
Of 1,969 hybrid listings in the browsable index, 66 state how many days a week are expected in the office: 3.4%. Employer career pages, which publish most hybrid roles, state it least. Where a number is given, it is almost always three.
"Hybrid" is the most common word in job listings that does not say what it means. The corpus shows how rarely it is defined: of 1,969 listings in the browsable index that the scorer classifies as hybrid, 66 state the number of days a week expected in the office. That is 3.4%. The other 96.6% say hybrid, name a city, and leave the arithmetic to the candidate.
Where a number is given, it is three
Of the 66 listings that state a figure, 55 say three days a week, 6 say two and 5 say four. No listing in the set states one or five. A candidate reading "hybrid" with no number can assume three days and be right most of the time; but "most of the time" is not something to relocate on.
Employer career pages state it least
Hybrid roles come overwhelmingly from employer career pages rather than job boards: 1,530 of the 1,969 are published through Greenhouse-hosted career sites and 379 through Ashby-hosted ones. Greenhouse-hosted listings state office days in 2.3% of cases, Ashby-hosted ones in 7.1%. The one job board with enough hybrid listings to measure, Arbeitnow, states it in 9.8% (4 of 41, shown as a count because the sample is small).
The pattern is understandable: many employers publish their hybrid policy once, on a careers page, and not in each listing. The listing is still what a candidate reads, and what a search engine indexes.
By employer, for those with 50 or more hybrid listings
The corpus shows, for employers with at least 50 hybrid listings in the index: OpenAI states office days in 18 of 278 hybrid listings (6.5%); Datadog in 1 of 243 (0.4%); Anthropic in 0 of 530; Cloudflare in 0 of 323; Intercom in 0 of 71; Lyft in 0 of 65; Pinterest in 0 of 63. These are the listings as the employers published them; a policy stated elsewhere on a careers site is not counted, by design, because the index measures listings.
Stated pay does not predict stated days
361 of the 1,969 hybrid listings state a salary range. Of those, 25 also state office days (6.9%); of the 1,608 without a stated salary, 41 do (2.5%). Disclosure travels together, but even the listings that are open about pay mostly stay silent about days.
What this means for a candidate
The Hybrid Transparency Score on every RemNavi listing page gives 30 of 100 points for stating the days. A hybrid listing scoring 70 or more has said how often you need to be there; most hybrid listings score 10 to 40 and have not. Filter on the score before you plan a move.
Method and limits
Basis: the browsable index on 13 October 2026 (organic listings posted in the last 180 days; paid partner feed excluded), restricted to listings the classifier marks hybrid (n = 1,969). "States office days" means the listing text contains an explicit number of days or an equivalent phrase that the scorer parses into a day count (field hybrid_days_in_office). Rates are shown only where n is at least 50; smaller groups are shown as counts. Limits: a policy published on a separate careers page is not counted; the classifier can miss phrasing it does not recognise, which would understate the share that states days; the index does not cover every employer. Previous read on 9 October: 68 of 2,087 (3.3%). Source table archived with this story. Corrections are appended below, never edited silently.
