Whether a remote listing states the pay depends on where it is hosted
Of 2,540 live remote listings, 22.6% state a salary range. The share runs from 6.4% on Greenhouse-hosted career pages to 69.6% on Ashby-hosted ones and 100% on Remote OK, which requires a range; taken together, employer career pages (23.3%) and job boards (21.9%) disclose at almost the same rate, so the platform, not the channel, is where the difference sits.
The corpus shows that the odds of seeing a salary on a remote listing are set less by the employer's channel than by the software the listing sits in. Of 2,540 live remote listings on 26 October (posted within 30 days, paid partner feed excluded), 573 state a salary range: 22.6%. Employer career pages and job boards disclose at nearly the same overall rate, 23.3% and 21.9%. Inside each channel the spread is wide.
Career pages: two systems, two worlds
Most employer career pages in the index are hosted on one of two applicant-tracking systems. Greenhouse-hosted pages carry 865 live remote listings, of which 55 state a range: 6.4%. Ashby-hosted pages carry 316, of which 220 do: 69.6%. The two systems host similar employers, often hiring for the same cities. Both give the employer a place to state pay; the corpus shows only how often a range ends up on the public listing, and on one system it is the rule and on the other the exception.
Boards: the rule decides
Remote OK, whose posting rules ask for a salary range, shows one on 56 of 56 live listings. Jobicy shows a range on 94 of 167 (56.3%); 4DayWeek on 140 of 287 (48.8%). On We Work Remotely (361 live listings, counting both feeds we read) and VueJobs (387) no listing carries a stated range in the fields we read, and the count has been zero for the whole series: that is a property of what those feeds publish, not a finding about the employers posting there. Smaller sources, shown as counts: Arbeitnow 0 of 39, Working Nomads 0 of 34, Himalayas 3 of 19, Remotive 5 of 8.
Why this matters for the numbers you read
RemNavi's pay-transparency tracker and the published country rates count a listing as disclosing only when a range is stated in the listing itself. The platform effect above means the overall rate moves when the source mix moves: a week with more Greenhouse career-page postings reads lower; a week with more Ashby or Remote OK postings reads higher, with no change in any employer's behaviour. The by-platform figures are the control for that. It also means that a candidate who wants to see pay before applying will find it on some platforms almost always and on others almost never, whatever the employer.
Hybrid listings, for comparison
Of 722 live hybrid listings on the same basis, 111 state a range: 15.4%, below the remote figure.
Method and limits
Basis: the browsable index on 26 October 2026, filtered to listings posted within 30 days, not archived, not from the paid partner feed, classified remote; n = 2,540. A listing counts as disclosing when the index holds a stated salary range for it (the same rule as the tracker; method 1.1 since 17 October counts "X to Y" and CA$ ranges). Limits: a zero on a source means no stated range in the fields we read from that source's feed; We Work Remotely, VueJobs, Arbeitnow and Working Nomads have been zero throughout, which points to the feed rather than the employers, and those four are shown but not interpreted. Career pages are Greenhouse- and Ashby-hosted pages of named employers; boards are everything else. Rates shown only where n is at least 50 per source.
