The Scored Weekly, 26 October: five strong remote roles, three big salaries, and a 'remote' job with three office days
Five remote roles that state their pay and hiring region, three of the highest stated salaries this week, one listing that says remote in the location line and three office days in the text, and the figure that one in a hundred remote listings says 'anywhere'.
This week the index tracked around 20,000 listings from 13 boards and employer career pages. Below: the roles worth a look, chosen for stated pay, a stated hiring region and freshness, exactly as the employers published them; links checked live before sending.
Five strong remote jobs
- Senior/Staff Software Engineer (Back-End), Inference – Cohere · $205K–315K · RRS 78 · Canada
- Product Manager, Storage – Vercel · $208,000–312,000 · RRS 73 · United States
- Senior Manager, Account Manager, Enterprise – Ramp · $315K–415K · RRS 72 · United States
- Enterprise Account Manager, Northern Europe – Watershed · €100K–500K · RRS 67 · London (remote)
- Workforce Development and Education Manager, Infrastructure – OpenAI · $176K–385K · RRS 67 · United States
Three high-salary roles
- VP of Sales, Public Sector – Cohere · $560K–675K · Toronto (remote)
- Product Data Scientist, Youth, Families and Learning – OpenAI · $401K–510K · San Francisco (remote)
- Software Engineer, TPU Compilers – OpenAI · $380K–500K · San Francisco (remote)
Remote, but not really
Service Designer, Support – OpenAI carries "(Remote)" in its location line and states, in the posting, "a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week" in San Francisco, with relocation assistance. The pay is stated ($216K–310K) and so are the days; only the location line says something else. Read the body before you assume.
One data observation
"Remote" answers where the desk is, not who may apply. Of 2,787 live remote listings on 24 October, 1.2% said worldwide or anywhere in the location line, 1.4% named a region, 19.1% were United States only, and 78.3% said "remote" or named one country. On four boards the location line never says more than "Remote", so the eligibility sentence, if any, is in the text. The write-up by source, with a correction appended on 24 October: One in a hundred remote listings says 'anywhere'.
One transparency statistic
Of 877 remote listings published 15 to 21 October by the boards and career pages we index (paid partner feed excluded), 180 stated a salary range: 20.5%. By platform: Ashby-hosted career pages 72.4% (63 of 87), Jobicy 43.9% (79 of 180), Greenhouse-hosted career pages 3.5% (9 of 255), VueJobs 0 of 113, We Work Remotely 0 of 94. (Browsable index, read 22 October; method at /how-we-score/.)
