Finding 1
57% remote, 43% hybrid — the corpus is nearly split
Of the 8,721 listings in the RemNavi corpus on May 7, 2026, 57.3% are fully remote and 42.7% are classified as hybrid. Less than 0.1% were unclassifiable.
This split is more even than most remote-job boards suggest. Sites that market themselves as "remote-only" often include hybrid listings without flagging the distinction — a practice that misleads candidates who have genuine location constraints.
"Nearly half the listings on major remote job boards require regular in-office presence. The label 'remote' has become an SEO strategy, not a hiring commitment."
RemNavi classifies every listing independently using our Hybrid Transparency Score classifier, which reads location fields, title signals, and job description language to determine whether a role is genuinely location-independent.

Finding 2 — the headline number
92% of hybrid listings score below 50/100 on transparency
Of the 3,720 hybrid listings in the corpus, we scored each using the Hybrid Transparency Score (HTS) — a 0–100 signal that measures how explicitly a listing communicates its in-office expectations: days per week, office location, flexibility policy.
The result is stark: only 2 listings score above 80. Nearly half — 49.6% — score below 20. The median score is approximately 25.
"Of 3,720 hybrid listings, exactly 2 scored above 80 out of 100 for transparency. The rest leave candidates guessing about the actual office commitment."
A low HTS score means the listing uses language like "hybrid model" or "flexible work" without specifying the office requirement. A candidate accepting such a role cannot predict their weekly commute cost, childcare needs, or relocation requirement.

Finding 3
Only 1 in 5 remote listings discloses salary — Finance is the exception
Across the full corpus, 18.8% of listings include salary information. That means 4 in 5 candidates must apply blind, often investing hours in a process before discovering whether the role fits their expectations.
Disclosure rates vary sharply by category. Finance roles lead at 27.8%, driven partly by regulatory familiarity with compensation transparency norms. Customer Service lags at 13.7% — the lowest of the major categories.

At the employer level, the gap is even wider. OpenAI discloses salary in 79.6% of its listings — the highest rate among major employers in the corpus. Snowflake follows at 72.6%, Vanta at 54.8%. Most large employers disclose in fewer than 5% of listings.
"OpenAI and Snowflake disclose salary in 7–8 of every 10 job listings. Most large tech employers do it in fewer than 1 in 20."
| Employer | Listings | Salary disclosed |
|---|---|---|
| OpenAI | 450 | 79.6% |
| Snowflake | 168 | 72.6% |
| Vanta | 135 | 54.8% |

Finding 4
OpenAI, Anthropic, and Datadog together account for 15% of all listings
The top 10 employers by listing volume account for 37% of the corpus. The concentration is striking: OpenAI alone (450 listings) represents more than 5% of every remote and hybrid listing in the index.
AI-adjacent companies — OpenAI, Anthropic, Datadog — dominate the top three positions, reflecting the sustained hiring surge in AI infrastructure, safety, and tooling through early 2026.

Methodology
How this data was collected
RemNavi is an independent aggregator that collects remote and hybrid job listings from company career pages (via Greenhouse, Ashby, Lever ATS feeds) and specialist remote job boards. Data is fetched and classified daily.
Corpus: 8,721 active listings as of May 7, 2026. Listings older than 60 days are excluded from the corpus to maintain freshness.
Work-mode classification: Each listing is classified as remote, hybrid, onsite, or unclear using a rule-based classifier that reads location fields, title keywords, and description language. The classifier does not rely on self-reported "remote" labels — it cross-checks claim against evidence in the listing text.
Hybrid Transparency Score (HTS): A 0–100 composite score that measures how explicitly a hybrid listing communicates its in-office expectations. Signals include: specific days-per-week mentioned, named office location, stated flexibility policy, salary disclosure. Full methodology: remnavi.com/editorial/hybrid-transparency-score/.
Salary disclosure: A listing is considered to disclose salary if the salary field contains a parseable number, range, or rate. "Competitive" or "market rate" is not counted as disclosure.
Reproducibility: Live aggregate data is available via the RemNavi API. Spot-check salary disclosure:
